Here Goes...

Hello 🙂 My name is Mrigaanka and my pronouns are she/they. I’m from Mumbai and I go to school at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.  I’m (currently) double-majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Medicine, Science, & the Humanities. I’m also minoring in The Writing Seminars.

I’m interested in exploring the intersections of science and communication by using creative mediums to bridge the gap between the scientific community and the people its meant to serve. I’m ALSO interested in writing, creating, and sharing more pointless things that make me happy.

Things I Enjoy

  • books : Obviously. Top 3 writers are probably Rainbow Rowell, Maggie Stiefvater, and Casey McQuiston (yes, they are all YA fiction, and they are ALL great).
  • music: I’ll try anything, and recommend it aggressively: Pop Rock (Arctic Monkeys, 5SOS), Glam Rock (Bowie, T-Rex, Elton), just regular Rock (Cage the Elephant, The Velvet Underground), Alternative (Hozier, The Smiths, Phoebe Bridgers), Baroque Pop (Lana del Rey), Indie (Alexandra Savior, Christian Leave, Rex Orange County), Contemporary Folk (The Lumineers), Hip-Hop (Riz Ahmed, Seedhe Maut, BROCKHAMPTON), Sufi & Qawalli (Arooj Aftab, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Sethi). Enthusiastic proponent of the Pakistani indie music scene (Hasan Raheem, Maanu, Izzchughtai, Talal Qureshi).
  • fanfiction: Archive of Our Own >>>. You know it’s good when you confuse it with canon.
  • all kinds of digital content, really: Creative inspirations include Watcher Entertainment, Brian David Gilbert, Mina Le (Youtube), Sci Guys, The Penumbra Podcast, Rusty Quill (podcasts), and the eternally radiant Twilight film franchise.
  • food: Yummy. Please recommend new places to try in Baltimore (caveat: I don’t eat meat).
  • writing: Frequent flier on the feelings to art pipeline.
  • memes: Especially ones featuring raccoons and opossums.
  • learning new things: I fell headfirst (onto khanacademy.org) one too many times as a child.

Things I’m Working On

CAUDEX

the axis of a plant | a book or manuscript | a blockhead or idiot

so...what've we got here?

On Caudex, you’ll find my poems and other strings of words, research articles, updates on projects I’m working on, the works. Basically, I decided I wanted my work to have a home on the internet instead of just my Drive.

At best, you’ll find something you love. At worst, we’ll lose our minds together.

Links to social media are all on the home page.

Excelsior.
